Earlier this year, had the pleasure of meeting a beautiful cat belonging to a girlfriend. Upon visiting her and petting her a few times, I found I wasn’t allergic! That was a good feeling knowing that there was a breed (or perhaps type) of cat that I might possibly own in the future.

What a cute face!

Her name is Queen, and I’ve had her for just a short while now.

She was living where there were 2 dogs (both hyper, yip-yap types) and she did not care to be around them, so she only came out at night, and rarely. So she did not have a lot of human interaction. My friend’s 5-year old daughter was very happy to have a cat, but not one that didn’t come out to play very much, or be around the house when all the dogs and people were out. They were worried that it wasn’t the proper home for her, so when I was on the phone with my friend one night, who seemed concerned enough to want to find her a new home, I asked her if I could take care of Queen. It seemed like a perfect match, since I had been wanting some animal companionship for a long time, and also since I wasn’t allergic to her.

It took my friend’s daughter some convincing. It was her cat, after all. One day, a couple weeks later, I came home from being gone all day, to hear a message on my answering machine from the little girl. All it said was, “You can have the cat, you can have Queen. Do you want her? OK, bye!”

She ran off a couple weeks ago, and stayed gone a long time. My friend was worried that she might run off again, so when they did find her, she was brought over right away, to my house, where she seems pretty content to have the place to herself for the most part.

If you are on Facebook, here are photos of her, for you to look at and comment on.

If not, here they are:

She decided one night, to be so bold as to jump up onto my hi-top kitchen table.

Sassy girl on my table

Look at that pouty puss!

Queen is a little rough around the edges, as she was really matted (being a Persian, they are prone to that sometimes). But she’s had a good clipping, and her coat will grow back nice and full in no time.

Leaning in for a little pettin’

She can be very sweet and affectionate

She is also very talkative, and when I come through the door after being gone (even if it’s just going to get the mail), she comes out from wherever she’s been, and meows at me for a few minutes. She’ll usually be in whatever room I’m in (except she doesn’t come to my room or lie on my bed when I go to sleep at night, which is good, I don’t need cat hair all over my bed). She also likes to come up to me when I’m working at my desk, and meow at me for a bit, usually to get some lovin’s and pettin’s

Sleepy time, on the top of the couch

I have been ordering my household goods like coffee, toilet paper, feminine schtuff, shampoo, cleaning supplies and medicine cabinet crap from them for a couple months, now.

Shipping is free, takes about 2 days and comes in a very clean, well-packed box.

Most of the stuff I buy from the site costs less or about the same as Target, plus I don’t have to travel to the store, spend all kinds of time shopping, and then sitting in line!

I stole this banner from their web site so that you can click on it to check it out. When you sign up, you get $10 off your first order of $50 or more.

I can’t help but say good things about Alice.com because they have saved me a TON of time and it’s just plain fun to shop there. And you know how much I fucking HATE to go shopping!

Here’s what she says,

“Happy Saturday! It looks like this will be the one day that the threat of any storms or even a cloud will be not an issue. Expect temperatures to heat from the upper 60s this morning to the upper 80s by this afternoon with dewpoint remaining in the 50s and low 60s making it feel pretty comfortable. Winds will remain light. Enjoy your Saturday, a threat of thunderstorms returns Sunday afternoon and plenty of heat next week with our next widepread shot of storms on Wednesday.”

#1 - WHY is it that she never says shit like this in sub-zero February? I know, I know, it’s cold out. But this is MINNESOTA. And as I’ve said before, if you don’t like it, MOVE! I never see this idiot weather lady posting “Happy ____day” when it’s 40 degrees in October, either. Or April, for that matter. Nope. She only does it when it’s over 75F degrees out.

#2 - Since when is RAIN THAT WE NEED DESPERATELY a threat? We got um..like two rain showers in April, and perhaps a couple since then. All told, that’s…. Hey! My lawn is crispy and brown. Wonder why?

#3 - That’s all. I just hate weather bitches who suffer from a dependency on fair weather to get by. This is beyond your typical, “seasonal affective disorder”. It’s more like fair-weather bias.

I dunno. All I know is I should probably shut up because although I am okay with Winter, I adore Spring and Fall, I despise most of the hot summer days, especially if humidity is up there.

On days like that, you can usually find me inside with the fan and/or central a/c running.

I guess I just prefer cooler temps. Maybe it’s cause I’m one hot mama!

…so anyway, as I was saying…yeah, there’s a lot of old stuff around here.

Which brings me to wonder. Do people read old posts on blogs? I suppose only if they are good, right? Well, my writing has always been horrible, so no chance of that happening anytime soon, I guess.

The other thing I hate about having an old, old, old, blog is that many of the posts in it are not categorized. I take some time once every blue moon and go through them to categorize the many old unsorted posts, but then I find also that there are hundreds without titles!

See, back in the day (before things like Blogger.com, etc.), there was no such thing as comments, categories, even “posts” and “titles”. You just did it all yourself. About the time Blogger.com came out, there was a way for me to import posts from my journal (no one had called it a ‘blog’ - short for ‘weblog’, yet, until Blogger.com came along).

And even early Blogging sites/’tools did not have categories, comments, and sometimes post titles. Everyone got super-excited when Blogger.com came out with Draft saving and then it was like a huge milestone when they came out with the ability to change the date of a post.

Anyway, I guess my point of this whole post was, yes I have a great, old, dusty blog, full of wonder and fun. But it’s hard to enjoy because its antique-nes is making it hard to integrate into today’s systems.

Blast from the past

Here are a couple posts you might enjoy…

Happy 3rd birthday to my blog!

A hard-hitting film that completely destroys the myth that Barack Obama is working for the best interests of the American people. The Obama phenomenon is a hoax carefully crafted by the captains of the New World Order.
He is being pushed as savior in an attempt to con the American people into accepting global slavery. We have reached a critical juncture in the New World Order’s plans. and only by exposing the con can we help to save freedom in America.
The Obama Deception is not about Left or Right: it’s about a One World Government. The international banks plan to loot the people of the United States and turn them into slaves on a Global Plantation. Covered in this film: who Obama works for, what lies he has told, and his real agenda, and how his initial appointments and actions prove he serves the corporate oligarchs, not the American people.
If you want to know the facts and cut through all the hype, this is the film for you.

One of my online friends was telling me about a weird dream she had… a lucid one…where you are half asleep and yet half aware of your surroundings, and it all sort of combines into a weird mind-movie.

A few days ago I had one such dream…

I was up very (VERY!) late the other night, and was clipping coupons from my local penny saver newsletter (you know the ones that come in the mail with all sorts of coupons like for tanning salons, carpet cleaners, restaurants?). Anyway, in the penny saver, I saw an ad for this one place called Maverick’s Roast Beef, which is this local eatery famous for its lunch and dinner buffet (roast beef, mashed potatoes, corn on the cob…mmmm).

So there I am, half asleep and half dreaming…I was at this Maverick’s place, and getting ready to order and all I could think of was “What is that SMELL?” It was bad. Really bad. I was talking to someone in my dream (don’t remember who), and we were both at this restaurant. I remember telling them, “I don’t want to eat here! This place smells like feet!”

I woke up shortly thereafter, rolled over in bed and looked down at the floor. There, on the rug next to my bed was a pair of slippers (being diabetic, I have many pairs of slippers to wear around the house–diabetics should never go barefoot!). I picked one up and sniffed it. It was REALLY STINKY!

Then there’s these 2 web sites I’m working on.
